The pen is mightier than the sword! But a bitch slap would be very satisfying, I agree.

They're very sneaky in that video. They're not responding to their own statements. That particular one about the jaw force? The original statement they were "debunking" was about pit bulls "locking" jaws. And they "refute" that with a non-sequitur about PSI.

How long do we have to keep debunking these myths? Seriously people?...What will be the tipping point? 50 people dead? 75? 100 per year?

Canine Myths
A myth, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is a traditional story of ostensibly historical events that...

Basically, if it looks like a pit bull, it's a pit bull.

God, that break stick video Jeff posted--the instructor used a "bite square"(?) to demonstrate. He picked it up and that dog seized it in a split second. It chilled me how fast it struck.

A little education for
"BUZZFEED" TRUTH: Temperment, instinct, and behavior in animals is hereditary TRUTH Pitbull jaws are powerful enough that a human cannot physically open them without some kind of TOOL so the stupid "locking jaw" argument doesn't even matter does it? You know it doesn't

"Their jaws exert less force than rottweilers and German Shepherds" Really? That's a valid argument" Here's another TRUTH: A volkswagen isn;t as heavy as an Abrams Tank, but if I'm trying to see which one I can lift off the ground, it's going to be NEITHER.....Likewise,.bite force is irrelevant if you can't pry the jaws off your arm, leg, or child..

Another of their red herrings was: "Myth: ALL pit bulls were bred to fight". NObody claims that. The breed was *created* to fight, but not all dogs are bred for fighting. Disingenuous weasel-wording like that makes me sick. They lead people to believe that isn't a fighting breed when it is, and patently unsafe.

This is why attacks and fatalities are likely to increase, because people hear these stories and think that these dogs pose no special threat.

Jeffrey, last sentence made me laugh. David, you are exactly right. The NCRC and AFF feed it to them and they eat it up like pudding and NEVER question the fact that it could be a lie.

Yeah, in the thread under the news article about the pit who killed his owner on Christmas Day, some apologist was claiming they have to be specifically trained to kill. I asked why, if all breed traits are trained in, do people train their Yorkies to be (notoriously) difficult to housebreak and why in the world they'd want to train them for that?

Well, for one thing they are banned from US Army, Air Force, Navy, etc. bases and base housing. Another thing we tend to overlook is that pit bulls (bull dogs are stupid) are pretty stupid as dogs go. German Shepherds are highly intelligent and that is very important in learning their jobs.

Pit bulls rank 82 in a list of 100 dog breeds by intelligence...not one you would want to assign an important job to.
