The Santos family has a history of doing stunts to gain media attention for their cause. The father calls himself "Rock da Mullet", and we have all read what they have named this poor child. There are scholarly studies about this practice, and it's often linked to "narcissistic personality disorder". They did the same thing about a year ago at Tom's Farms in Riverside. If they cared about the welfare of their child, they would stop using her for their own attention, and would have selected one of the 200 other breeds of dogs that do not have a calculated actuarial risk of 2,000%. Having a pit bull around a child, has the SAME risk as keeping a loaded gun in a household. (considering 8,000 children are killed,maimed and/or hospitalized on average each year by unsecure guns alone so I think the whole guns comparison is a bust)
There really should be a law to protect us from all of these people. There was a recent case of an "emotional support" pig defecating and causing a ruckus on a plane. There are no laws to prevent people from adopting emotional support Bears, or Lions. Pit bulls have the SAME actuarial risk as WOLF HYBRIDS, and they are seven times more likely to attack their owners. This is why many insurance companies do not cover incidents involving pit bulls. ( actuary risks calculated using merritless stats is hardly accurate hence the major manipulation of unsupported non reveiwed stats? of the results)
People with fears or allergies of dogs have rights too, there are MANY of us walking around in public who are victims of pit bull attacks, or have watched a pit bull doing what pit bulls have been bred to do for centuries with a family member, a friend, or a beloved pet. Many of these people suffer from PTSD, what about their rights? A dog bred for the cruel and illegal sport of dogfighting does not make a good candidate for this function, there are actually cases of these dogs attacking, especially other animals. ( should we ban cars to lessen the stress of car accident victims etc?)
For about fifty dollars, anyone can get a vest and a certificate. REAL SERVICE dogs, such as seeing eye dogs, are from very select breeding programs, and not all of these dogs make it through the rigorous requirements. As it is, a high percentage of REAL SERVICE dog teams are reporting a very high incidences of being attacked by other dogs, and guess which kind of dog leads in these kinds of attacks. (so you obviously have proof this is the case in this instance?? I don't see it anywhere?)
